Madikwe Game Reserve is the fifth largest safari area in South Africa, with 680 km² of open savannah, thick forest, a river and one mountain. All of the Big Five can be found on a tailor-made safari in Madikwe as well as rare species such as cheetah, striped and brown hyena and aardwolves. The reserve is malaria-free and roughly four hours by road from Johannesburg although daily flights are also available.

About Madikwe Game Reserve

Madikwe is located in the north-western province of South Africa bordering Botswana. The different ecosystems provide an ideal habitat for a wide variety of African species with 66 large mammal varieties and over 300 bird species found within the reserve. There is no public access to the reserve and so it doesn’t get crowded like some of the national parks.
