OUR SAFARIS

  • Cape Town

This buzzing cosmopolitan hub is an ideal place to start any South Africa safari itinerary. The city is located on a beautiful peninsula between Table Mountain and both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, which makes a holiday in Cape Town a must for anyone visiting the country.

  • Kruger National Park

Nowhere in South Africa matches the amount of wildlife and wilderness experienced on a tailor-made Kruger safari holiday. Established in 1898, Kruger is one of the premier places in the world to find the famous Big Five.

  • Garden Route and Whale Coast

One of the prettiest driving routes in the world connects South Africa’s Eastern and Western Capes. The journey from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth is almost 750 kms of dramatic coastal scenery, hidden nature reserves and idyllic beaches.

  • Cape Winelands

A short drive from Cape Town is the stunning Winelands region, home to some of the best wine in the world.

  • Eastern Cape Reserves

A number of malaria-free Big Five private game reserves are located within a short drive of the Garden Route.

  • Madikwe Game Reserve

Madikwe Game Reserve is the fifth largest safari area in South Africa, with 680 km² of open savannah, thick forest, a river and one mountain.

  • Kwa-Zulu Natal

Kwa-Zulu Natal is an area of raw natural beauty that has a bloody history. There is so much to do during a visit to the area that an entire holiday could be spent here without getting bored.

  • Hluhluwe-Imfolozi

Hluhluwe-Imfolozi is located in the heart of Zululand and is South Africa’s oldest reserve. Formerly the hunting ground of King Shaka, the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park is one of South Africa’s best Big Five safari destinations.

  • Cederberg Mountains and Wilderness Area

The Cedarberg Mountains stretch for 100 kms and sit mostly within the Cedarberg Wilderness Area, roughly 200 kms north of Cape Town.

  • Johannesburg

Johannesburg is South Africa’s largest city and the gateway to Southern Africa, as well as the former home of both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.

  • Durban

Durban is a coastal city in South Africa’s Kwa-Zulu Natal region. The city underwent a total makeover in 2010 prior to the FIFA World Cup, and the promenade that stretches along Durban’s seafront was revitalised.

  • Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth is located on the Algoa Bay in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. This coastal town is conveniently situated for those either starting or ending a trip along the Garden Route and Whale Coast, or enjoying a malaria-free Eastern Cape Reserve safari.

When to go

South Africa is a great year-round destination. Between November and February, the weather in the Cape is warm and sunny, which coincides with peak South African tourism which means areas are more crowded. It should be noted that at this time northern parts of South Africa experience more rainfall than at other times of the year.

For bespoke South Africa safari holidays, the ideal time to visit is during the cooler winter months from May to September, which is typically sunny and rain-free. For those interested in whale-watching, June to November is best.
