Port Elizabeth is located on the Algoa Bay in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. This coastal town is conveniently situated for those either starting or ending a trip along the Garden Route and Whale Coast, or enjoying a malaria-free Eastern Cape Reserve safari.

When to go

South Africa is a great year-round destination. Between November and February, the weather in the Cape is warm and sunny, which coincides with peak South African tourism which means areas are more crowded. It should be noted that at this time northern parts of South Africa experience more rainfall than at other times of the year.

For bespoke South Africa safari holidays, the ideal time to visit is during the cooler winter months from May to September, which is typically sunny and rain-free. For those interested in whale-watching, June to November is best.
