Windhoek is the capital of Namibia and located in the heart of the country. It is typically the start and end point for a safari holiday in Namibia, and the city is conveniently located around 45 minutes from Windhoek airport.
Windhoek is a clean and modern city in which Namibia’s historical German influences can be seen in the town planning and architecture. Dotted around the city are old German castles as well as a neo-baroque cathedral which is worth a visit. Shopping for supplies, if required, is best done in Windhoek and we recommend setting aside at least half a day for this.
