Bazaruto Archipelago
The Bazaruto Archipelago is a small group of remote tropical dune-covered islands surrounded by pristine turquoise ocean in the Mozambique channel. The warm inviting waters are a haven for exotic marine life such as whales, dolphins, turtles, tropical fish and even the rare dugong. Tailor-made holidays in the Bazaruto Archipelago are perfect for luxury Mozambique honeymoons, family breaks and anyone wanting to escape to paradise for a while.
About the Bazaruto Archipelago
The area has been protected as Bazaruto National Park since 1971, with miles of colourful tropical reef supporting an impressive array of exotic sea-life. There are few places on earth that rival this vibrant underwater world, and Bazaruto is one of the best places in the world for diving and snorkelling holidays.
Not all the islands are inhabited, adding to the remote feel of the region, and those that do have small populations living on them have small villages dotted between orange groves and cashew nut trees.

Things to Do in the Bazaruto Archipelago
There are plenty of activities in Bazaruto for those who want to explore in between relaxing on the beach and taking a dip in the ocean. Diving and snorkelling in Bazaruto are the most popular things to do here, as well as dhow cruises, whale and dolphin watching boat trips and dugong spotting!
Fishing, horse riding and dune boarding can also be arranged, as well as island explorations, birding safaris and private picnics on deserted sandbars. This truly is one of the most romantic places to visit in Mozambique.

Best Time to Visit the Bazaruto Archipelago
Mozambqiue’s dry period from May to November is the ideal time to visit the Bazaruto Archipelago. During this period there is little rain and the temperature is nice and cool. During December and January temperatures in the archipelago soar and become quite unpleasant. February and March should be avoided as this is hurricane season.
Humpback whales migrate through these waters from June to September, and the best time to see whale sharks in the Bazaruto islands is from October to December.
