  • Zomba Plateau

The Zomba Plateau is a towering mountain of rock that stands in places at 2,000 metres high. The plateau is one of Africa’s most scenic regions and lends itself perfectly to exciting adventure holiday activities such as walking, horse riding, cycling and fishing.

  • Liwonde National Park

Covering 200 km² in southern Malawi is the country’s most popular national park, Liwonde. Located on the southern tip of Lake Malombe and 100-miles north of the town of Blantyre, tailor-made safaris in Liwonde are renowned for offering the best game viewing opportunities in the country.

  • Majete Wildlife Reserve

The Majete Wildlife Reserve in Malawi’s south-west is one of the most inspiring tales of conservation success in Africa. The reserve is now a haven for wildlife and a tailor-made safari in Majete is one of the best things to do on a Malawi holiday.

  • Lake Malawi

Described by explorer David Livingstone as ‘the lake of stars’, Lake Malawi’s pristine tropical waters host an abundance of colourful marine life.

  • Nyika National Park

Nyika National Park is Malawi’s oldest national park and is located high up on an ancient plateau. Nyika is rich in plains game, birds, flowers and Africa’s most elusive cat, the leopard.

When to go

Malawi’s drier winter months from April to November are the best period in which to visit. During this time game viewing in Liwonde and Majete is at its peak and the weather is ideal for relaxing on the beaches of Lake Malawi.

Further north, the temperature of the Nyika plateau drops during the winter months. The hotter, wetter summer season from November to April is the ideal time to visit Nyika, when wildlife is at its best, the opposite to the rest of Malawi.
